Camping is a great activity and can be done with those around you that you love. Yet, many never try it because it sounds so hard to do. As long as you have the information you need ahead of time, camping is very easy. Continue reading this article for some excellent camping tips that will make you an seasoned camper quickly.

Remember that everything you bring will get dirty on your trip. Being prepared for the inevitable is the best way to avoid unneeded stress. Have fun in nature and don't be afraid to get dirty! You can get back to normal after returning home.

Make sure you know how to use a compass and map before you go camping. You can get lost in the woods even if you have been to the area before. You will be able to avoid possible tragedy when you learn how to use both of these life saving items.

After your trip, be certain you leave the campsite cleaner than it was when you found it. You will want to bring trash bags for cleaning up all refuse. Do not leave food there, either. A golden rule for departing a campsite: leave only your footprints behind.

Safety procedures should be acknowledged when you're out camping. Keep away from animals, both large and small. Even small animals in the wild can be dangerous. This should not have to be said, but never feed any bears you see.

Never assume that you will find enough wood to burn, because rain can change that in an instant. Bringing your own small supply of wood and keeping it dry is a wise decision.

Learn how to use a map or a compass before going camping. Even if you know what your campsite is like, you may still get lost because a lot of areas look similar around where you are. You can prevent disaster by knowing how to use these lifesaving items.

Never assume that you will find enough wood to burn, because rain can change that in an instant. It's important that you bring extra wood with you that you can keep in a dry area.

If you have any type of medical issue, no matter how minor, you should always discuss camping with a medical professional beforehand. He or she can tell you about important things you may not have thought about for your trip that can affect your health in a harmful way. Maybe only one small thing needs to be done that won't interfere but will make your camping trip less dangerous for you.

Have you just bought your first tent and want to begin camping? It's vital to learn all that you can before you leave about your tent. You should know what you need and how to do it before you actually have to do it. This will also help you be able to accomplish the task quickly and efficiently once you arrive at your campsite, even if it is near dark.

Find the softest, flattest ground possible to set up your tent. If you pick out a sloped or a rocky spot it can make sleeping and hanging out in the tent very uncomfortable. Also, put a tarp down on your site to repel water in the best fashion.

Buy yourself some camping pillows for your trip. The typical pillows will become sticky in hot and humid climates. The will also pull moisture from the air and mildew will form quickly. Pillows specifically designed for camping will not draw in wetness like regular pillows will.

For a cheap and disposable tarp to place under your tent, save an old shower curtain! You can also use it as a way to control run-off as you are washing or cooking. Instead of getting rid of an old shower curtain, use it for your next camping trip.

Improper food packing leads to food poisoning in many campers each year. Food poisoning can happen when food is spoiled, which is something you risk when you take food not properly preserved, vacuum sealed or canned. Make sure you keep all perishable food on ice, but keep the drain open!

Now that you've reached the end of this article, you are ready to do some planning. Camping is not intended to be an intense event, but there is a bit of know-how required to make it stress free. Use the information shared here and have a great trip!

Police: Minn. office shooter kills 4, then self

A man who apparently lost his job at a Minnesota sign-making business returned to the company and allegedly killed four people before fatally shooting himself.

The shooting took place at Accent Signage Systems in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood in Minneapolis at about 4:35 p.m. Thursday, according to a statement released this morning by the Minneapolis Police Department.

The suspected shooter has been identified as 36-year-old Andrew Engeldinger, a former employee who recently lost his job at Accent Signage Systems, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Police wearing body armor began searching Engeldinger's home early this morning.

The bodies of the four victims were found shortly after police arrived at the scene while evacuating other employees, according to the police statement. Police have not officially named the gunman or the victims. Minneapolis Police Deputy Chief Kristine Arneson would only confirm that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The company's owner, Reuven Rahamim, was killed in the shooting, according to the newspaper.

Four others who were hurt in the shooting were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. Three of the victims are listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds. The fourth victim had minor injuries, according to police.

"We received three patients who came to the hospital and they are in critical condition and they continue to be in critical condition this evening. They are three adult males," Christine Hill, the hospital's Media Relations Specialist, told ABC News Thursday evening.

Director of Operations John Souter and production manager Eric Rivers were among the four that were taken to the hospital, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The other two victims in the hospital have not been identified.

Police originally reported that at least two people were killed Thursday afternoon, but later would only say that "several" bodies had been found inside the business.

Barbara Haynes was driving home from her teaching job when she got stuck in traffic near the scene.

"I've never seen that many police vehicles on the scene and SWAT teams, uniforms, the guns ... pretty heavy artillery," Haynes told ABC News.

Marques Jones, 18, of Minneapolis, said he was outside a building down the street having his high school senior pictures taken when he and his photographer heard gunfire that sounded close.

"We heard about four to five gunshots," Jones said. "We were shocked at what happened and we just looked at each other. We all just took off running to our vehicles."

Accent Signage Systems' website says the company makes interior signage and listed its founder as Rahamim.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said employees who were working when the shootings occurred were together and being cared for Thursday evening.

"We are deeply sorry about what has happened here," he said, calling the shootings "a horrible tragedy."

ABC News Radio and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Hamilton in, Schumacher out at Mercedes

London, Sep 28

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton Friday moved to Mercedes, signing a three-year contract as a replacement for seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.

Schumachers's future plans were immediately not known but reports suggest that there won't be any management role for the German since Niki Lauda has already been announced as a non-executive chairman of the team.

Schumacher, who came out of his retirement to join Mercedes three years ago, has also been linked with a move to BMW Sauber.

In a statement released by Mercedes, Schumacher wished Hamilton and the team best of luck.

"I have had three nice years with the team which unfortunately did not go as well as we all would have wanted on the sporting side. I wish Lewis well and for the team to achieve the success we worked so hard for in the build-up. I would like to thank the team for their trust and all the guys for their unconditional commitment. I will now concentrate on the next races," he said.

Hamilton said he was looking forward to the stint as a fresh challenge.

"It is now time for me to take on a fresh challenge and I am very excited to begin a new chapter racing for the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. Mercedes-Benz has such an incredible heritage in motorsport, along with a passion for winning which I share.

"Together, we can grow and rise to this new challenge. I believe that I can help steer the Silver Arrows to the top and achieve our joint ambitions of winning the world championships," he said.

Mercedes' team principal Ross Brawn chose his words carefully while thanking Schumacher.

?I would first of all like to thank Michael Schumacher for the important contribution he has made to the growth of our team over the past three seasons,? said Brawn.

?His energy and commitment have never wavered, even when results have not matched our own expectations, and we are determined to finish the 2012 season together on a high. As always, it has been a pleasure to work with Michael,? he added.

BMW Sauber's Sergio Perez has been roped in by McLaren as a replacement for Hamilton. The Mexican, who has already scored two podiums this season, has been signed by McLaren on a multi-year contract.

"I've spent the 2012 season working very hard to demonstrate my potential, but I've always remained humble and focused. I am, and always will be, extremely grateful to Peter (Sauber) and everybody at the Sauber Formula One team for their belief in me, and for giving me the chance to race in Formula One," he said.

Save Money on Christmas Decorations | Padoozles

Save money on Christmas decorations

Free image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net

We all want to save money, but with Christmas around the corner, can we save money on Christmas decorations too?

Yet bet, and here are some ways to do that.

Buy Christmas decorations when they go on sale.

Artificial Christmas trees, ornaments, outdoor Christmas decorations, all the cool things that make your home look so pretty during the holidays go on sale during the first week in January. ?You probably won?t find many sales on holiday decor until after the new year since many people spread their holiday season over the course of that late December / early January time period, but you can always look! ?You can definitely find good deals in January though for sure.

Go natural.

God provides all kinds of Christmas decorations! ?Pine cones and evergreen branches make beautiful decorations for the season. ?Bare branches presented in a creative way with white lights or stands of popcorn throughout can be very ornamental as well. ?Nuts can fill out a clear jar or a candy dish. ?Catch?poinsettias on sale in the home improvement stores (those guys always order too many) and enjoy a colorful home.

The Nesting Place blog has a great page which will inspire you with ways to combine natural plants and items with household objects you may just have laying around your house. ?I love the pine branches lovingly?draped?through the breakfast room?chandelier!

The Nesting Place ? How to Decorate for Christmas Naturally

How to Make a Wreath with Berries

DIY Christmas Decorations

Save your money on purchasing elaborate decor and find Christmas crafts you can make for homemade Christmas decorations.

Have fun with the kids and work on easy kids crafts. ?Martha Stewart can get you started on that one here: ?http://www.marthastewart.com/275712/kids-christmas-crafts/@center/307034/christmas-workshop#/202519

Parenting Magazine also has some pretty cool AND easy Christmas decorations ideas you can do with your kids (or even do yourself if you are craft challenged like I am)! ?See here to see some of the easiest and cutest Christmas crafts for kids around! ??http://www.parenting.com/gallery/diy-crafts

It?s easy to find directions for homemade Christmas ornaments in and around the web as well, or find a great book on DIY projects at a local used bookstore or at the library.

* ?Purchase Christmas craft supplies online at home so you can spend a little more time comparing prices.

* ?Check Amazon.com for craft supplies and kits.

* Keep an eye on Pinterest for inexpensive projects you can do.

* ?Purchase in bulk with a group and share the savings. ?If you can organize a group crafting time with friends and their children, all the better!

* ?Find freebies. ?Craigslist, Freecycle, and even word of mouth are all sources of free craft material you can use for do it yourself projects. ?If you don?t see something listed, don?t feel bad about posting a request.

Shop the ads and use coupons for things to make and material to use.

Michaels Crafts has tons of coupons and specials. ?Here is their weekly ad page so you can stay updated on sales, weekly deals, and Michaels coupons: ?http://weeklyad.michaels.com/

Hobby Lobby coupons and sales are here: ?http://www.hobbylobby.com/weekly/weekly.cfm

JoAnn?s coupons are here: ?http://www.joann.com/coupon/

Save money at Christmas

Free image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhoto.net

Shop the sales and use coupons for holiday decor at stores and online too.

Coupons, sales, and online discounts can add to your savings. ?Also consider price matching if you know of a store that will offer you the same price as the same items at another store with a lower price.

?

Recycle!

Seek out and proudly display vintage household objects and vintage Christmas items from years past.

You may not always get the best deals on old or antique Christmas ornaments, but at the same time, sometimes you can. ?If you?re willing to look around and have a little time to do so, you may be able to find some great prices on some really outstanding holiday items.

Consider things like vintage Christmas cards or postcards, antique sleds or wagons, those old crafts you did when you were in school and your mom kept around for all these years.

If your object doesn?t quite have that holiday look, you can easily create one by adding a few bows, or string evergreen branches or popcorn garland around the item!

You can really have fun using old objects in new ways, and you will be able to save money by doing so.

Buy inexpensive Christmas decorations at discount and dollar stores.

Dollar Tree usually carries decorative wind socks and window decor and also sells loads of wreaths, silk poinsettia flowers,?tabletop Christmas trees, elf and Santa tea towels and pot holders, and cute ornaments. ?Dollar General and Family Dollar do as well.

By the way, I LOVE wind socks, don?t you? ?They are so whimsical and fun to watch! ?If you want to save money on your purchases and save money on electricity too, wind socks make wonderful outdoor Christmas decorations, and vinyl holiday window stickers on the front door, and even on all the windows throughout the house, are cheap holiday decorations that really add a sense of childhood excitement!

I saw a house featured in one of the upscale country life magazines that was decorated completely with items purchased from The Dollar Tree over the years, and the home was absolutely gorgeous.

Don?t let ANYONE tell you, especially yourself, that you can?t have a beautifully decorated home for the holidays using cheap Christmas decorations!

Shop thrift stores.

You can find beautiful trinkets, wind up Christmas scenes, and ceramic Christmas villages at thrift stores sometimes. ?Not every store will carry as much as others, but if you take the time to look and then the time to shine up some pretty little objects that need a new home, you can find yourself with some real nice gems to display in your home at just the fraction of the cost.

Go solar with outdoor Christmas lights.

Oh yes sir re, outdoor lighting has gone green!

Amazon sells solar Christmas lights. ?Target does as well. ?Even Walmart and Sam?s Club offer them on their websites. ?You?ll find solar powered Christmas lights on Ebay too. ?While these may be a little more expensive than regular outdoor lights sometimes, you can save on electricity costs, and if you?re a light fanatic like the person in this video, saving money on electric bills is worth considering.

You can save money in so many ways, and fortunately there are many easy ways to save money around the house during the holiday season. ?Saving money on Christmas decorations is one great way to enjoy this time of the year and free yourself to think about the more important things in life like your kids, your family, and about what that holiday time is really all about anyway.

Have a beautiful Christmas!

Arkansas' Wilson cleared to return against Rutgers

(AP) ? Tyler Wilson is back for Arkansas.

Now the question is whether the star quarterback can get the Razorbacks out of their funk.

Arkansas coach John L. Smith said Thursday that doctors cleared Wilson to return to action Saturday against Rutgers. Last season's first-team All-Southeastern Conference quarterback missed the Razorbacks' 52-0 loss to No. 1 Alabama last week with what he called a concussion.

The senior was injured late in the first half against Louisiana-Monroe the week before, a game Arkansas (1-2) lost in overtime after leading by 21 points in the third quarter.

The Razorbacks (1-2) fell from No. 8 to unranked with that loss, and their troubles continued against the Crimson Tide ? a game in which they were shut out for the first time since 1995. Wilson spoke after the game, trying to rally his teammates.

He'll have the chance to back up those words on the field against the Scarlet Knights (3-0).

"He is that energy, that vocal person that we need," Smith said. "His energy and that positiveness, it just kind of breeds and it keeps going and it spirals, and that's what we need."

Wilson, who is 30-of-47 passing with five touchdowns this season, took part in non-contact practice each day this week. He threw for 3,638 yards and 24 touchdowns last season, guiding Arkansas to an 11-2 record and Cotton Bowl win over Kansas State.

Without Wilson, the Razorbacks ? who have led the SEC in passing offense in each of the last three seasons ? were held to just 79 yards through the air. Redshirt freshman Brandon Allen and junior Brandon Mitchell combined to finish 11-of-25 passing with two interceptions.

Smith said Wilson will have no limitations against Rutgers, and that he has no hesitation about playing the quarterback.

"Tyler's Tyler," Smith said. "He's going to go out there and play his darn best, regardless."

Libya, Egypt riots: Can anti-Islam speech be shut down?

An attack on the US consulate in Libya has drawn widespread attention to an anti-Islam film that enraged rioters. But can ? and should ? the circulation of this type of material be stopped?

    By Arthur Bright,?Staff writer / September 12, 2012

Tuesday's deadly attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that ended with the death of US Ambassador J.?Christopher Stevens?has drawn widespread attention to an anti-Islam film that enraged rioters on the scene. As the Monitor's Dan Murphy notes, the situation is reminiscent of the riots over the Muhammad cartoons published in 2005 by Denmark's Jyllands-Posten newspaper. He writes:

In some ways, it was the beginning of an era of manufactured outrage, with a group of fringe hate-mongers in the West developing a symbiotic relationship with radical clerics across the East. The Westerners deliberately cause offense by describing Islam as a fundamentally violent religion, and all too often mobs in Muslim-majority states oblige by engaging in violence.

He correctly notes that the film's authors "cannot be blamed for the violence ? that blame goes to the perpetrators." Still, some may?argue that the best way to end this vicious cycle of hateful message-and-response is to stifle the message. But ? putting aside the question of whether this is the best course of action ? is it even a legal option? Can the US government act to stop the circulation of offensive material like this? Can someone else?

The answer in the American system of government is simple: no. Any attempt by the federal government or a US state government to silence speakers like the filmmakers ? regardless of how repellant their message might be ? would be a restraint on their freedom of speech and a violation of the First Amendment.? Even were the government to pass a law against hate speech, the First Amendment would still trump such a law and render it unconstitutional.?

But while the Bill of Rights prohibits the countenance of a hate speech law in the US, the situation is quite different in Europe. While free speech is indeed protected in Europe both by the European Union and national governments, generally speaking those protections do not extend to hate speech. Many European nations, including France, Germany, and Britain, forbid expressions of hatred against a person or group of people based on their race, religion, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and the like. As such, much of Europe would be able to crack down on messages like the film at issue now, based on its clear anti-Muslim agenda.

There is another set of entities that could act to stymie circulation of these hate messages, and indeed are well placed to do so: the websites hosting the offensive content. The First Amendment and other free speech protections generally apply only to state actors, and have no effect on private actors like Google, for example, which owns YouTube, where clips of the offending film have been posted. Should Google or other Web hosts be so inclined, they are free to decide which content they publish and which they remove without fear of running afoul of free speech protections.

A hosting website may be constrained in what they can do with a user's content under the site's terms of use, which is a kind of contract between the host and the user. But host sites often explicitly warn in their terms of use that users are not allowed to post certain kinds of content: see, for example, YouTube's express prohibition of hate speech. And many sites reserve the right to remove any user content at all, for any reason. So YouTube could remove the offending film clips from its website if the company so desired, and the filmmaker would have no recourse.

Still, web hosts are under no obligation to police their users' content, and indeed, were they to do so it could impair the ability of individuals to express themselves. Again, take YouTube: The company is the largest streaming-video host in the world. If YouTube began aggressively censoring content according to what its board or management thought was morally right, those users with different views would be left without an outlet to publish their content. And while that may be acceptable to the general public in cases of hate speech, it might not be quite so acceptable if YouTube decided that speech on a topic with larger support ? say, gay marriage ? ought to be censored.
