Animal Lovers Give Pets Cats And Dogs Valentine's Day Gifts ...

Valentine?s Day is all about love, including love for pets. This February 14th, pet guardians are estimated to spend more than $46 million on their animal companions. Furthermore, more than one in three pet caretakers are planning on giving their animal friend a Valentine?s Day gift, according to a survey by the World Society for the Protection of Animals.

Dog guardians will be spending the most, around $23 million or an average of $6.82 per dog. Cat guardians are expected to spend $8 million or an average of $4.11 per cat. In addition, $8.8 million will be spent on fish, $4.8 million on birds and $2 million on all other animals.

Australia has the highest pet rate per capita, according to an IBIS survey.? One out of every two Australians are pet guardians, with 36 percent of Australian homes having a dog and 23 percent having a cat. This year, a staggering 3.4 million Australians are planning on giving their pet a gift this February 14th.
